New publication on the relationship of personality to physical proximity
As part of the large Study on Personality and Interpersonal Perception, Vera Helen and Katrin Rentzsch investigated the connection between personality and interpersonal attraction. Their analysis showed that the distance between two seated persons is significantly associated with the interpersonal attraction. In respect of characteristics of personality, it was shown that self-assessments of agreeableness and others’ assessments of agreeableness, extraversion and openness go together with physical proximity.
