Welcome to the Chair of Political Science, especially Political Sociology
The Chair for Political Sociology focusses on two broad topics in teaching and research, determinants for political behaviour as well as social identities and intergroup conflicts, either nationally (with a focus on Germany) or in international comparison.
We follow the paradigm of theoretically based empirical research which takes place at the intersection of political science, sociology, and social psychology. With using primarily quantitative methods, our research focusses specifically on the relation between emotions, personality and individual political behaviour, the connection of social identities and affective polarisation as well as the political integration of young people and immigrant-origin citizens.
