Brief biography

Willi Semmler is the Henry Arnhold Professor of Economics at the New School in New York and a research fellow at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis and at IIASA in Laxenburg, Austria. He is also a research fellow at La Sapienza University in Rome and is affiliated with Bielefeld University. He studied economics, mathematics and social sciences at the Universities of Hamburg, Munich and Berlin from 1966 to 1973. He completed his dissertation on "Multi-Sector Theories of Growth" summa cum laude at the Free University of Berlin in 1976, where he also obtained his habilitation in 1980.
