Programme Profile

The interaction of ubiquitous, interactive and cooperative systems with their human users is a field that will become increasingly important, especially against the background of social and societal upheavals due to future technological development. In order to develop novel solutions for such complex problems, a broad inventory of theories, methods and tools from different disciplines is necessary.

The study programme "M. Sc. Interaction, Research and Design" is therefore particularly characterised by its interdisciplinary approach to the subject area. It deals with the essential basics of the design and evaluation of systems in connection with human-computer interaction. It draws on and integrates the ideas, methods and approaches of design, empiricism and computer science.

In addition to the intended personality development of the graduates, competences in the areas of scientific and creative aptitude as well as an aptitude for qualified gainful employment are to be imparted. Special emphasis is placed on the development of competences in all three relevant areas - design, empiricism, computer science. Graduates are free to choose the weighting of these aspects according to their previous education and thus sharpen and develop their personal profile accordingly.

A specialisation can be chosen from the following topics of module groups A2, A3 and A4:

  • Design: central paradigms, concepts and methods for the design of novel systems
  • Empiricism: central paradigms, concepts and methods for recording and analysing user requirements and wishes
  • Computer science: central paradigms, concepts and methods for designing and developing novel systems
