GENIAL-forschen +
Focusing on the Potential of Gender - Changing Society
Better assessment and treatment of heart attacks, more valid algorithms, safer cities that better meet the needs of their inhabitants, and equitable workplaces - what do these examples have in common?
They illustrate how taking gender and sex into account in research can have a direct impact on our lives. Whether in computer science, spatial planning, or business studies - innovative research across disciplines today is rarely successful without the consideration of gender and sex.
As the above examples show, factors relating to sex and gender have a direct impact on people's quality of life. Nevertheless, there is a long tradition of ignoring these aspects. As a result, we still have large gaps in data and knowledge regarding the reality of women's lives, health, and careers.
These gaps should be closed step by step and the University of Bamberg will contribute to this with the “GENIAL-forschen +” project, which will strengthen and expand existing gender-sensitive research.
The foundation for this was laid in 2022 in the concept phase of the “GENIAL-forschen” project. The five-year “GENIAL-forschen+” project phase then began in July 2024.
Here you will find events on the topic of gender-sensitive research as well as current information about the project.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the project in general, upcoming events or if you would like to be part of the GENIAL network at the University of Bamberg.
