Yannick von Ostheim, M.A.

Yannick von Ostheim is a doctoral student at the Chair of Digital Transformation. He studied political science at the University of Bamberg and his research focuses on online deliberation platforms and their potential for citizen participation. In the Ai4Deliberation project, he is investigating the use of artificial intelligence in these platforms.

Of particular interest is the use of AI-based gamification modules. To what extent are such modules even desirable in a highly structured deliberation process? What effect do they have on the quality of discussions? At what point should they be used? And how should a gamification module be designed so that it not only increases the engagement rate, but also positively influences the quality of the discourse? These questions are at the center of his current research.
