Studying Communication Science
Where is the mass media society of our time heading? Who is responsible for the latest developments? How have new technologies shaped communication in the past? What do people expect from the media and how are these needs met?
Communication studies analyses public communication in mass and social media, evaluating the impact on our daily lives from different perspectives. In Bamberg, you will benefit from our more than 30 years of experience in training for communication professions. It is important to us that teaching and research in our degree programmes are practice-oriented, historically sound and current in content.
Our Bachelor's programme teaches you scientific basics, methodological skills and practical knowledge. The journalistic and practical media training takes place in the institute's state-of-the-art multimedia studio.
The Master's programme is research-oriented. Through our methodological training, you will expand your skills in social science data collection and analysis in particular. With this knowledge, you will develop your own research project and conduct it independently over two semesters.

Please note!
The language of instruction in Communication Science is German. Before you can enrol and begin your studies, you must have reached at least German level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As admission to our course of study is restricted, you must submit the required proof of German language knowledge before the application deadline. If you have any questions, the subject advisory service is available to you.
