1st Upper Franconian AI symposium at the University of Bamberg, Feb.29, 2024
Lecture and open table discussion
The first Upper Franconian AI symposium was aimed at anyone interested in AI - especially those from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who want to find out more about the potential and challenges of AI. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and practitioners. The program offered insights into numerous aspects of AI.
In addition to the lecture by Prof. Dr. Christian Ledig on "Deep Learning for Image Analysis and Classification", there were lectures by other AI professors on "Large Language Models and Dialogue Systems", "Trustworthy AI" and "Multimodal Interaction with Cobots", which provided in-depth insights into current developments.
Open table discussions with experts from universities and industry enabled direct questions and answers on AI topics and offered practical insights into specific use cases and best practices. Topics such as "AI and data analytics for production - a question of data!" and "Large language models in companies - do you still write them yourself or do you already have them generated?" were on the agenda. The symposium was rounded off by a panel of company representatives who reported on their practical experience. The event was organized by the newly founded Bamberg Center for Artificial Intelligence (BaCAI) at Otto Friedrich University alongside the SME AI Experience Center (KMU-KI-EZ) and the vbw - Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e. V. Bezirksgruppe Oberfranken. The founding of BaCAI positions the University of Bamberg as an important AI location both in Bavaria and throughout Germany. By pooling expertise in the BaCAI, the economy in the region and beyond can benefit from this alongside research and teaching.
